ABOUT US
Farr’s Dalston is located in the centre of Dalston within strolling distance of Dalston Junction station. A well-established venue, Farr’s has evolved throughout the years, drawing on it’s strong cultural heritage and community ties as a much-loved gathering place for drinkers, cocktail-lovers, dancers, film-buffs, party-goers and more besides.
Taking inspiration from its paired-back frontage and interior Farr’s embraces its nostalgic vintage feel with its Dive bar meets Speakeasy vibes. Our welcoming Dance Bar still bounces to the beat of happy drinkers and swing dancers and hosts a range of free and paid events, while our basement club style Projection Room hosts film screenings, bands and private parties.

Proudly sitting alongside the Hackney Peace Mural and Dalston Eastern Curve Garden at 17- 19 Dalston Lane, Farr’s is an old neighbour with a wonderful history and a bright future.
Farr’s takes its name from the famous dance school Farr’s School of Dancing which made its home at 17-19 Dalston Lane in the 1930’s. Prior to this, in the earlier part of the century, the site had been a busy and popular cinema-of-old, The Dalston Picture Palace. Bomb-damage meant the grand frontage was replaced in the 1950’s and while many of the architectural features have been lost or stripped back over the years, the heart of Farr’s remains the same.
The Dance Bar still boasts the stunning sprung floor that resonates to the beat at our sell-out Swing Dance Nights or popular local and renowned DJ sets. The basement Projection Room still screens weekly films for a variety of interests alongside cultural talks, comedy nights and private events.
